Melanie grew up north of Pittsburgh and has always been passionate about fitness. She did gymnastics, cheerleading, and ran track in high school then went on to become a Division 1 college cheerleader. During college, she started practicing yoga to ease some of the pain brought on from years of cheerleading. She fell in love with yoga and shortly after college, she got her yoga teaching certification.
She started teaching yoga and this led her into teaching a wide variety of group fitness classes, including boot camps, Zumba, aqua aerobics, and cycling. Currently, Melanie teaches barre classes at PureBarre Fox Chapel, cycling at Cyclebar North Hills, yoga at Amazing Yoga in Southside and she is excited to bring her experience and energy to Ramp ‘N’ Rize.
Along with fitness, she is passionate about traveling and sports. After college, she spent 4 years living, working, and traveling onboard Disney Cruise Line. After leaving the cruise ships, she moved to Sarasota, Florida for a few years where she continued to develop her fitness career while also working as a 1st-grade teacher. She recently moved back to Pittsburgh to be closer to her family and closer to Pittsburgh sports. Although no longer in the classroom, she loves using her education skills to develop and implement workout classes and can’t wait to teach you all at Ramp ‘N’ Rize!

What’s your mantra?

Energetic, easygoing, and optimistic.
When I’m planning out a class I’m about to teach, I always think:
How will this challenge my clients in a new and exciting way?
When I select my workout music I:
Spend WAAY too much time on Spotify. I pay close attention to BPM’s and energy levels and coordinate with when I want the energy to pick up in my classes.
You’d never catch me wearing:
A business outfit. I live my life in leggings!
If you looked in my gym bag you’d find:
An outfit for every type of workout (yoga, barre, cycling), running shoes, extra socks, a zip-up hoodie, and a few granola bars.
When I’m not working out, I wear:
Black and gold! Some type of Pittsburgh sports shirt or jersey.
When I’m feeling unmotivated to work out I:
Take a break. I love working out and I want to keep it that way, so if I’m not feeling it, I don’t force it.
My guilty pleasure food is:
Ice cream, late at night.
My favorite thing to do when I want to relax is:
Take a bath.
